Think you know AVA Smart Remote family? The introduction of AVA OS 2.0 and newly achieved Works with Sonos certification elevates the platform to a whole new level transforming it into an even more compelling proposition for professional integrators.
Works with Sonos – seamless, native control
AVA has announced that AVA OS now carries official Works with Sonos certification. The integration enables full control of Sonos players on the local network, delivered through a rich and highly intuitive user interface.
AVA OS automatically understands which room the homeowner is in, allowing music to start instantly without selecting a specific speaker. High-resolution cover art, simple grouping of speakers and rapid access from the Cinema Remote’s Dynamic Keypad create a premium, natural experience. The Dynamic Keypad provides tactile control for volume, play and pause and track navigation exactly where it is expected.
For secondary spaces or rooms without TVs, the Home Remote offers a streamlined touchscreen-only option, ensuring design consistency across the project.
From an installation perspective, AVA OS automatically discovers Sonos players on the network. The installer simply assigns each device to a room. Favourite icons can be placed directly onto a room’s home page, making personalisation effortless.
Ted Haeger, Chief Customer Officer, AVA, says: “AVA is thrilled to bring Sonos into our pro-only control system, AVA OS. Installers can now give clients a premium remote that feels as if it were designed exclusively to work with Sonos. Setup is quick and the owner gets an experience that works so naturally that it feels like part of the system. That’s the standard AVA builds for—elegant design for homeowners, backed by efficiency for pros.”
AVA OS 2.0 – engineering excellence
Beyond Sonos, AVA OS 2.0 introduces substantial refinements. Cinema Remotes now deliver up to twice the standby battery life via enhancements to the Dynamic Keypad software, demonstrating that meaningful innovation can often be found in optimisation rather than headline features.
Pass-through Volume for Sonos Port enables a Sonos Port and AVR to operate seamlessly together. The AVR powers on and switches inputs automatically, while the Dynamic Keypad places volume control exactly where it is expected.
Sonos Dynamic Groups allow speakers to group and ungroup automatically. System-level Lock protects installer settings across every interface in the project, including remotes and companion apps. Custom UI Buttons can now trigger entire command sequences such as webhooks or lighting scenes, while Sensors for Flows allow automation to start from real-world events such as music playback or device activation.
Broader platform expansion
New AVA apps are now available for Mac, Windows, iPad, iPhone and Android phones and tablets, downloadable right here.
Support for third-party Android in-wall panels extends deployment flexibility, while pro configuration tools on macOS and Windows accelerate project setup and management.
The refined design system, inspired by Swiss graphic design principles, improves readability with larger touch elements and adjustable font sizes. More than 300 new icons enhance UI clarity. Automation improvements allow IP drivers to reconnect without breaking existing flows.
Google Play certification, still unique within CI control platforms, allows projects to run apps such as two-way video doorbells, Tesla and EV apps, Powerwall interfaces and family calendars directly from a Flow.
Expanding IP driver ecosystem
The IP Driver family continues to grow rapidly, with additions including madVR, Simplified MFG HDMI Matrix, KeyDigital HDMI Matrix, AudioControl Audio Matrix, TASCAM BD and JVC LX-NZ DLP projectors. Also added, Android TV drivers, SkyQ, Lilin NVR, SurgeX, CYP control solutions, Blustream matrix and multiview drivers, Anthem MRX SLM, Lutron, Apple TV enhancements, AudioControl Bijou AVR, JBL Synthesis AVR, Magnetar UHD Blu-ray players, Meridian 218 and Screen Research projection screens.
A platform that has matured
For integrators who have not yet interacted with AVA, or those who encountered the platform in its earliest form, the evolution is substantial. The system has matured into a powerful, refined and deeply integrated control solution.
A telling endorsement is that the entire Pulse Cinemas HQ now runs on AVA control and it performs flawlessly. That level of confidence underlines just how far the AVA Smart Remote family has progressed and why it now represents a serious, pro-focused control solution worthy of close consideration.
